Hey, im not sure if there is already a thread on this, but i was watching CTV newsnet (54 on cable) and saw a story about a guy who set up a vote swapping group on face book
the idea being that if the party you want to vote for has NO chance of winning in your riding, you get in contact with someone in a riding where your party of preferance has a good chance of winning, who wishes to vote for a popular party in your riding who hasnt a chance of winning in their riding... if that made sence lol
Elections canada is currently debating the legality of this however
I personally think this is a fantastic idea, talk about making the most of your vote. I think it empowers us as the voters to really have our voices heard.
I have felt for a long time that my vote has no value, living in a historically conservative riding, and not supporting the conservatives at all, this may provide me the opportunity to have my voice heard, to make my vote count.
Now it does have some risk, you are trusting someone to vote for a party on your behalf, and theres no way to know if they will or not, just a matter of trust.
Its a trade off, you give up your voice locally for a voice nationally
And if we can't trust our fellow canadians who can we trust
What do you all think about this?
