Your Interest In Federal Election....
9/21/2008 at 8:22 AM
Just seen this poll Adam has going so I voted - honestly, a "1". I have little to NO interest in the upcoming Federal Election. When ever politcs takes center stage I DREAD it! "X" number of weeks listening to politicians complain and criticize each other to the point it becomes childish IMHO. Grow up!
It seems the majority (So far) may agree with me. The poll count after i voted, at the time of this post was as follows...
1 (36%) (Not Interested)
2 (12%)
3 (19%)
4 (18%)
5 (14%) (Very Interested)
When an issue comes up where one politician acts so childish and calls another names, etc. Why can't THAT politician stand up and say something like, "I prefer not to respond to Mr. So & So's comment due to the immature tone of it.
Basically isn't that what we were all told as kids? Walk the other way. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say nothing at all.
I honestly see the MAJORITY of politicians and little pre-schoolers calling each other names and always looking to dig up the dirt on someone else.
Kinda like I don't have a lot of respect for people who fit the classic definition of a salesman. The people who can talk and talk and sell refrigerators to Eskimos, ya know what I mean?
But in the same breath, I am reminded of a salesman that I respect very much, who is very professional, and says, "Never try and sell a product to someone by criticizing a competitor's product. Sell your own product honestly and earn more respect for your customer, which, in turn, will likely result in more sales. Sound like a better idea? No go apply that to politics!
Either grow up politicians, and earn my respect AND my vote, or when the debate comes on TV just call it a wrestling match and be done with it. Don't try and do both!
My rant, my $0.02
