Homeless in Brandon
10/24/2008 at 9:36 AM
I haven't found a thread on here yet about the homeless people that live in Brandon. What is the city of Brandon doing to help out these people, especially now that the weather is getting colder? I know our numbers are not as high as say Winnipeg, so that should mean that it should be easier to help these people find a place to get out of the elements.
I live beside the 8th street bridge and I have known since I moved in there that people were living under the bridge. They used to stay at the south end but some have migrated to the north end which just so happens to be in my back yard. (my dog barks at them)
I can't help but feel sorry for these people, even though the majority of them can find money for booze (see them stumbling over the bridge with a bottle)My boyfriend just says they should get jobs, but I understand how hard it might be to get back on their feet.
I have even gone so far as to take a warm blanket out and put it under the bridge for them.
So my question to you is, where is the cities compassion when it comes to the homeless in Brandon?
