Brandon Airport is still in the Bush League.

In the past I have suggested that our Airport needs a major upgrade with a longer runway and an instrument landing system (ILS) that provides precision guidance to aircraft approaching the runway using a combination of radio signals and high-intensity lights.
Other ebrandon members have told me that I do not know what I am talking about because I do not use the Airport. That is my point: I am not able to use the Airport because there are no commercial passenger planes using this facility.
Recently an Air Ambulance could not pick up a patient because of bad weather, and lack of an ILS system. It would appear that this situation has once again given reasons to start lobbying Ottawa for this upgrade to an all weather airport.
The airport celebrated its 60th anniversary this year and more than 5,000 signatures have been collected since a petition began circulating in January to bring in an ILS and in turn attract airlines for regular service in Brandon.
It would be nice if some of the Bush Pilots who now use the Airport could join with the petition and support our Airport upgrades.
