Local implement dealer will not accept return of garden tractor
12/14/2008 at 11:29 PM
This blew my mind when I heard about it. A neighbour purchased a new compact tractor from a local implement dealer about 2 months ago. This is about a $20,000 tractor...I assume mainly for the paint. Anyway, it was delivered and was stored away for the winter but unfortunately the neighbour passed away after a brief, unexpected illness. The dealer was contacted regarding returning this tractor due to the circumstances and they refused. My understanding is that this tractor was utilizing a payment plan, so to me, I cannot comprehend what the problem is. I can see all the payments made to date being lost, but having to either buy out the tractor or trying to sell it and hope to make up the money seems like poor customer service/compassion. Remember, the tractor has not been used beyond the driving into a storage area, so it is still new.
I am sure there must be a reasonable explanation for this as I cannot see a company being so driven by the almighty dollar that they ignore their customers.
Any thoughts?
