I moved back to Brandon 4 years ago and at that time my b/f & I were paying $430 per month plus hydro for a 2 bedroom apt (500 13th Street). They also ACCEPTED my 2 cats. So, things didn't work out b/t the ex and I, so I found a very large 1 bedroom apartment for $500 per month (utilities included & pet friendly). The ex & I got back together (he'd bought a house by this point) and then we split...so I went apartment hunting again...that same $430 apartment is now...wait for it...$800 PER MONTH PLUS ALL UTILITIES!!! Oh and its not pet friendly!! Trying to find a nice, CLEAN, decently priced apartment in this city now (that's also pet friendly) is damned near impossible!!!  
$1200 per month for a 1 bedroom apartment..C'MON!!! For that price, the apartment better clean itself!!  
Now my cats & I come with very good references (my cats alone come with 7 or 8 references!!!)  
 
If there are any landlords reading this...I need a 1 or 2 bedroom apt, one that I'm not going to have to apply for a bank loan for rent, if I have to pay for hydro that's fine, and it needs to be pet friendly.  
 
How in the hell did the rent prices double in price!! No wonder a bunch of people I've encountered are so grumpy...they're probably having to work 3 jobs just to pay the damned rent, never mind any other bills. Yet, I have heard (and have yet to confirm) that the "new" people in town get a moving bonus for coming to our country. Now I've said before and I'll say again, If Canada can provide a better standard of living, then by all means, come...but why should you get better (for lack of a better word) "Benefits" than people that have lived here & worked here their whole lives?! And the landlords (some, not all) have recognized that these newcomers are willing to pay out of the arse...and the rest of us suffer!!  
 
So my question is...Where is the justice in this? AND How in the hell did the rent prices more than freaking double!!!??? Its ridiculous
