Council coverage
8/18/2009 at 8:21 AM
While I have no intention to belittle the efforts of those at our local channel 12 and their broadcast of the local town council meeting, something needs to change.
As one who watches the council meetings as often as possible, I am continually frustrated by the quality of the broadcast. With Brandon being the second largest community in the Province of Manitoba, I feel that we deserve to have the meetings broadcast in a fashion that is understandable and legible.
The continual hum overriding the sound, the late starts, the cutting in and out of the sound. All of these combine to make it a frustrating experience.
I would suggest that the city invest in equipment and technology to allow streaming on the web, or to provide what is needed to create a broadcast all can make use of. I am sure more would watch if the experience was to be improved. This, in turn, would likely result in greater participation in the local political scene.
Having said that, thanks are in order to channel 12. They do at least give us an opportunity to see what goes on in those hallowed chambers.
