Hwy 1 Greyhound Bus memorial
8/29/2009 at 10:49 AM
Driving to Winnipeg yesterday and saw 2 people at the site of the Greyhound Bus crime scene and they are grooming the memorial that is placed there. They have mowed the grass all around it and fixed the area to look like a shrine. My question is, does this serve a purpose for the general public? The roadside crosses for accident victims serves as a reminder to all of us to drive safely, but the reminder of a horrendous crime that will likely never happen to any of us just makes me think of that terrible night every time I pass. Is it time to let it go? Should the highways department remove it as it serves no purpose for the greater good and can be a distraction for those who are trying to figure out what happened as they drive by? I am not heartless to the families grief, but isn't that what the grave site is for?
