Thank you cards
8/31/2009 at 1:36 PM
I know I am old, but what has happened to the nicely written thank you card? To be quite honest, I am disgusted by what I have rec'd as a thank you, or in some cases not rec'd at all!
I have sent wedding, shower, baby gift to people and last few years the trend seems to be a computer generated picture with the names on them, thrown in an envelope with no writing on it at all!! Or, someone (this happens in the smaller community), puts a thank you in the local paper and says instead of thank you cards they are making a donation to the rink, hospital, etc. Well, that is great for the people who get that small town paper.
I want a thank you card, with "real" writing on it, thanking me for my gift (at least that way I know they got it). If they are going to take the time to put a picture in the envelope, pay postage, then take the time to write a little note on the back of the picture. If, I don't live in your hometown and you are going to put a notice in your local paper, maybe the out of towners could get a thank you note.
I always thought it was common courtesy to write out a note, even mentioning the gift you were given from that person, so they know you actually rec'd what you gave them....
Thank you - I needed to get that off my chest.
