"HELP APPRECIATED" ad

noticed in todays Bdn Sun in classified an ad with the above heading. All kinds of perils listed as well as a request for donations ending with a box # for mailing. No names, nothing you can nail down ...just wondering is this for real...would the paper have collaborated the story before accepting the ad? I don't know but in this day of scams, check it out before sending any donations.
