The teacher appreciation thread
10/9/2009 at 2:00 PM
A couple posts in the "Most influential" thread got me to thinking that we need a separate thread to make mention of some of the local teachers past and present that have helped shape this city. Note that this is NOT a thread to do the opposite and slam teachers that we didn't enjoy.
I'm probably dating myself here having been out of the system for ten years, but a few off the top of my head in no particular order..... Apologies if I've missed a few, I'm sure someone else will pick up the slack for me.
Madame Chudy (French, now retired I believe. Passion for seeing her students do well still comes off when you run into her today)
Don Thompson (Mentioned in the other thread. Very good at relating to students and making sometimes dry subjects fun)
Ken Schmidt (Helped make sure this computer student had productive things to do in stead of resorting to a life of not-so-productive things

)
Bob Fraser (Now retired, computer teacher)
Bruce Bonk (Found the magic formula for making calculus fun. Little bird tells me he's still subbing)
Lynn Jannuska
Shelley Lowes (Wife of then-Wheat King coach Bobby. Related very well to students)
Gayle Parks
Emile Houde
Sally Bender
Please feel free to add any that you or your children can vouch for first-hand.
