I am Appalled
11/16/2009 at 7:27 PM
I have just finished reading an article in the Brandon Sun tittled "Future of army lies in counter-insurgency, Cdn General Says and I am appalled to say the least. Sounds like all some our Canadian forces commanders have learned from the whole Afghanistan deployment is WAR. To say I'm just a little damn angry would be an enormous understatement.
Lt-Gen. Andrew Leslie, chief of land forces. Please tell me. What Prime Minister in Canada has ever declared war in Afghanistan. I would really like to know. Because by the way you talking that is very much what our troops over there are engaged in. As far as I know, Canada is still a democracy and we are not at war with anyone. As you seem to be assuming we are and will be even after our troops are pulled out of Afghanistan.
And its also said by the same person "Its not going to be peacemaking anymore, its going to be counter-insurgency, because the odds of us doing peacemaking between two functional states are probably pretty low.
All I can say Sir, is speak for yourself and please don't assume you are speaking for Canada when doing so. At least not until, this kind o shit has hit the fan back home. Because what you are really saying is that diplomacy has become obsolete and I'm not so sure most Canadians would agree.
