2/14/2010 at 12:10 AM
A wonderful group of Latina women and Brandon University students are working hardly togheter to make possible the Brandon Latina Women's Association.
The Brandon Latina Women´s Association is a nonprofit, non-political and non- religious community based social organization. Its mission is to empower Latina women through leadership development, education, community service, and advocacy. This association provides support to Latina immigrant women who are facing language barriers, depression, or isolation as results of the migration transition. The Brandon Latina Women´s Association is committed to leadership, self-sufficiency, good citizenship, organizing, encouragement, development and empowerment of Latina women in the Brandon community. The Brandon Latina Women´s Association fulfills its mission through programs designed to develop the leadership skills, promoting community service and providing its members with advocacy opportunities. Brandon Latina Women´s Association promotes social relationships, networking, and integration, helping in the process of immigrant settlement and retention of the newcomers in Brandon.
We would like to publicly thank the Faculty of Arts, and especially Dr. Bruce Strang, Dr. Eleanor Blaine, Dr. Rachel Mayor, and Dr. Tish Langlois for their support to this university outreach community project.
