I don't know if people have heard the BPS warnings to make sure your doors are locked, even during the daytime. There have been a number of break-ins the past few weeks - mostly in and around the core area. In some cases, the burglars got in through unlocked doors.  
 
Last night, somebody tried to break into the back door of my mother's house. She's in her 80s and lives on her own. (she has no physical issues and is too stubborn to move into alternate housing). It appears that the burglar used a screwdriver to pop the door open, but didn't get in the house because she has an old-fashioned chain on the door.  
 
Be careful out there, folks. Keep the doors locked and pay attention to what's happening in your neighbourhood. We'll beat these guys by looking out for each other.
