Broken Plasma?

I have a Hitachi 50" Plasma TV. It recently started getting black line across it at the top of the screen, now it's the bottom as well. It tends to come and go but lately stays for a long time. All the research I've done online says it's a buffer problem. Is this something I could fix myself? If not, where can I get it fixed? And is it even worth it?
