Dishwasher problems-Help!!!

Our dishwasher is not cleaning properly. Glasses not clean. Have used commercial cleaners(citric acid,etc.) with no change. There are stains left in the bottom after running the appliance.
Am I missing something- like a filter? Have read the manual.Any suggestions or a recommendation for appliance repair
