where were you yesterday?

I asked a friend if he was going to the Rememberance Day service the other day and he said "maybe if I'm up in time?" What the $@&&* ??? Its not a holiday, Its a day to honour our fallen Canadians who have died to keep our country free!
Apparently a lot of people slept in yesterday as the building was only half full.
What would happen if our countries defenders felt like sleeping in everyday?
I understand if you had to work or you didn't have a ride or not capable.
Closing note. Wall mart parking lot was full of people waiting for the doors to open yesterday morning!
