School Board Defers Decision on Fleming Sale
12/14/2010 at 5:48 PM
I noticed my original discussion was deleted, perhaps the server crashing played a role in that.
Let's talk about what went down at the meeting last night. It's interesting that the trustees put off the vote, I wonder what the big problem is and why they need to all of a sudden reevaluate the bids when they were so sure it was a win-win situation.
Apparently according to the Brandon Sun a misplaced deposit cheque from the Seniors Co-op which was never really lost was the problem. Very poor communication skills on their behalf when they didn't touch base with the Seniors Co-op instead of check with their own people where it was! Sure makes them look stupid.
All of sudden now based on legal advice they reevaluate the same 3 bids, it seems Sioux Valley's bid was not the highest at $300,000 but in fact the Seniors Co-op was at $320,000. Without access to the former thread and Mr. Sumner's informative response I can't quote his words but hope he could come this new thread and address if he did in fact post that Sioux Valley was the highest bidder, I suppose at the time it was since perhaps every trustee was under the assumption the Co-op was disqualified about the missing deposit cheque.
I'm sure this will all end the same so not sure what the hold up is, it seems as if they are stalling based on new information that the public maybe doesn't know about?
I found the article very vague with a lot of holes. Media reporting can be mediocre at best. I hope Mr. Sumner will return to our new discussion and provide insight to those interested. Or Mr. Murray I believe he is a member on here as well.
Phoning trustees is great, but there are many who don't bother to do that so a public discussion forum is a great way to reach a large audience who may not otherwise ask.
