Patty will be missed at the Keystone Centre
4/16/2007 at 5:31 PM
Well Patty 9 years in a leaky boat is a good run in my opinion. (was it Split Enz that sang that song?)
Because basically when you are the GM of the Keystone Centre that is basically what you have to do .... patch holes in the boat before it sinks and then maybe the next day put on your fire outfit and put out blazing fires that are creeping around the bottom of your feet.
I DON'T CARE what anyone tries to tell me or say .... that woman worked 12 plus hours a day 6 or 7 days a week to try and keep that place from being a huge financial burden on the citizens of Brandon. The media can try and beat her up and people that have no clue what that building means to Westman can issue random death threats etc BUT my god we all have to realize what a valuable asset that building is to this city. Honestly without the Keystone we would have zero tourism. Think about it for a minute and really take the time to think about this comment - what on earth would people come to Brandon to see .... some flower show?
I will try and touch on a few things:
- Tribal Days
- Municipalities conference
- Tournament of Champions
- Genesis High School Hockey Tournament
- Dogs Shows
- Huge annual indoor car shows
- Home Show
- Prov Ex Fairs
- AAA Hockey Challenge
on and on
Someone with incredible will power and 2 feet of thick skin will be the lucky person to assume that job.
On a personal level you were a charm and a refreshing change to deal with Patty and I hope the best for your new business with your daughter and as well now you will be able to enjoy your summers.
This past February was the only time in 15 years of dealing at the Keystone where I had to call you at home over an issue that I don't want to bring up ..... and you stood behind me 1000%.
People do come and go but certain people come accross my life that have made a difference in my life and I just wanted to say goodbye Patty and I do hope for all the best in your upcoming ventures.
