Any ideas on how to remove a rusty hitch bar from a vehicle

I recently purchased a new hitch bar and need to remove the one that is on the van. Unfortunately is proving to be quite the task. I have tried hitting it, oiled it, sprayed lubricants on it, pulled on it with no luck.
If anyone has other tricks / ideas to get this darn thing off they would be appreciated.
