As one of the many folks who commute to and from Brandon using Veterans Way, I can't help but notice and wounder what all of the surveying is about that has happened in the last few weeks. There are sets of survey markers on each side of the highway in the ditch and nobody that I have asked seems to know why. Anybody out there know what's up there? Would be nice if they were planning to twin that highway, as it is extremely busy first thing in the morning, and again at 4:00pm when everyone is done working on the base. Thoughts at all??

the stakes are markers for elevation and slope I was told by my rm councillor. I did not pay attention to when this will begin, but it will be a summer project that will cause some detours no doubt.  
I am sure its all on the rm website or call the rm office. currently it appears that mts is relocating some lines that run in the ditch to get them out of the way for construction. I expect once the utilities are re-routed it will begin. I was told Moffatt construction out of Minnedosa has the contract. the RM office could tell you more specifics  

I was on Veterans Way a couple of weeks ago and noticed the survey markers. Someone told me that they are planning to widen the road, if so, there's a fairly good chance that will mean twinning it.  
 
I couldn't help but notice that the survey markers are all east of the Willow Creek bridge. Of course, that could just mean that they haven't surveyed the section west of the creek yet. It could also mean that the markers are there for some other reason than widening the road, proposed water and sewer pipelines for example, or that that they plan on widening the road in stages, which is most likely. If they are going to widen PR 457, I sure hope they do it all the way from Hwy 110 to PR 340. It would be silly to only widen the stretch of road between the Willow Creek bridge and PR 340. Of course, they'll have to build a new bridge or bridges.
