I spend time walking my dog in this city and its not safe at all. I was almost run over in the crosswalk by a taxi driver who would not stop. I had to walk around a vehicle who was stopped in the crosswalk while waiting for the light to change and thought it was a big joke and vehicles parked so they are blocking the sidewalk and forcing me and my dog to walk on the road to get around. Worst thing is the police were right there and did nothing as I guess they didnt have time. Driving in this city sucks and walking is even worse. Before any aholes answer yes i had the walk light, and where the taxi incident a vehicle coming the other way stopped so was halfway across the road.

We have been having a much better time sharing the road with drivers lately while cycling around the city but yesterday we were going down a walking/bike path and there were a group of people walking towards us. They all moved to one side to give us room and then another cyclist came zipping around them right for us. I had to hit my brakes hard and swerve which left us caught up in tree branches and the cyclist narrowly missing us and the people walking.  
 
At the start of the year we had a few problems with cars pulling up too far so we couldn't get past safely and not giving us adequate room while passing. I was brushed by a rear view mirror once last year and we have one of those two child pull behind carts so you can imagine how close they were to hitting my child. That incident persuaded me to get a rear view mirror so I can watch more closely.  
 
We haven't had many problems at intersections as I always get into the driving lane to go with the traffic unless I'm on a bike path and most people this year have been good with allowing us to cross.

I spend time walking my dog in this city and I have no problem at all.  
 
Riverbank, walking paths that surround and wind their way through the City, City sidewalks etc.  
 
Maybe you were having a bad day. Smile and the world smiles with you.  
 
Hope I'm not one of those a-holes you were describing. I find a generally polite atmosphere anywhere I walk with my dog.  
 

with everything said. I think it depends where you walk. If you stick to walking paths it is nice, if you are anywhere else basically I agree people don't drive well when it comes to cyclists or pedestrians. The place I hate walking the most is on Lyndale drive in the south. I am not sure which councilor looks after that area but a sidewalk is badly needed on that street. Any given time there is at least 1 person walking down there. I find it dangerous but people have no choice but to use that street, the other alternative if you live south between 9th & 18th of Maryland to go North is 9th.....which is no better.

I do not see any problem biking on sidewalk. It is much safer than biking on the road both for biker and for car driver.  
I bike in the city and I have had no problem. Sometimes I walk too, and I do not see much problem. Look at the positive side of events, then you will enjoy. If you look at negatives , you can always find something unpleasant about everything.
