My question is, where do I buy it? And how much is it per tonne?

Depends on what you mean by field stone? If you mean round rocks then Cumming & Dobbie, if you mean flat rocks then I don't know

New yard built, lots of stone types to pick from.  
They can also help with the design of the wall. So you get the proper amount of stone.

I had this dream about 10 years ago, so I bought a couple of yards of fieldstone/river rock (12-18" diameter)) from cumming and dobbie that they delivered to my back yard.  
 
I laid out forms and built a 40' long 2' wide slab for it and mortared the first row in before realizing how much work it really was to fit and shape each rock to fit, so I smashed the first row out with a sledge and buried the slab with dirt LOL

Relocating some of my rocks around the yard today (for another project) I am again tempted to try the stone wall again.  
 
Only this time with smaller (more manageable) rocks in the grapefruit/cantaloupe size (6-9") provided they can be sorted that small.

How much does rock cost roughly? I'm thinking the rounder rocks.

I just talked to C&D and they can sort rock down to 6-8" diameters and 1 yard delivered in the city would be around $110, while 5 yards would be $300 or so.  
 
I can't stop day dreaming about a nice stone wall fence in my backyard, so much for my other project lol

Farmers usually have rock piles from there fields. I'm sure many of them would sort out something for you to be able to take them.

I used field stones to build several retaining walls. There are a lot of farmers with stone piles who allowed me to fill up my 3/4 ton. Rock is heavy so it takes a lot of trips to build a wall. I never actually fitted the rocks tightly together. I scooped out sand and piled rocks in. It works and a lot of people complimented me on the finished project.  
 
The last project I have a friend with a gravel truck. He hauled a load from a stone pile. I only paid $100 for the load 5 - 6 yards. They were too big to lift so used a smaller farm tractor to help place the stones.
