Yes, gay marriage is legal in Canada! It's great that the U.S. has finally decided to allow equal rights to marriage for all its citizens as well. I think the watermarked rainbow pictures are a great way to show support as well. So happy we live in a country/time when we can be our true selves

A trend, really? It's equality. Gay marriage has been legal in Canada for ten years.

Same sex marriage has been legal in Canada for 10 years. No, all churches are not required to perform ssm wedding ceremonies, though there are those that do.

Well, now it's time to start lobbying for polygamy! A few bad apples that have ruined polygamy for the rest of us with the arranged underage marriages, etc, but that's what I think will be the next big 'thing'.

Gay people will get married. That's about it.

Now what? People who love each other will be able to be legally married anywhere in the United States, and there will be weddings!  
 
Hman, I do hope you meant that the rainbow facebook profiles are a trend, not homosexual marriages.

It's about time that the US finally followed along. If two people who are of the age of consent want to live together legally as husband and wife, have at it.  
 
The only problem I see with this is eventually someone is going to demand that they be married by someone who doesn't believe this is okay. You know it's going to happen, just wonder where and how long before it does. That will be a sticky mess.

It is about more than the wedding ceremony. Nobody or no church will be forced to be part of a ceremony if they disagree.  
 
However, everyone that deals with heterosexual couples will have to deal with same sex couples in the same manner. For example, providing tax benefits, pension access, hospital visitations, parental rights, and many others I may have missed.  
 
This is the equality that many have been denied in the past but no longer.

If you want to hold a parade to celebrate your sexuality, go right ahead. Te large majority of us heterosexuals feel no need for a parade as we've never been oppressed due to our sexuality. I haven't been beaten, tied to a fence and left to die because I'm straight, have you? Have you been ridiculed for being straight? Been threatened? Been denied a job? Been disowned by your family?  
 
Please, tell me, what exactly would your straight parade be celebrating? What obstacles have you had to overcome for being straight?

For the "god" crowd it was just easier to read one book than a bunch of other books. Usually fear of the unknown is the main reason for reactions like this. I'm not a religious person nor am I someone who buries themselves in books but I can't understand how someone else lives their life affects yours. If you think gay marriage will send someone to hell then that is their choice and your belief. I'm not on the gay pride color filter and forwarding #lovewins messages as I find those to be hokey and a little bit of a follow the masses kind of action. I'm happy for anyone who wants to be happy but really I don't care to hear about it 24/7. Good for homosexuals as they can feel that they don't have to hide anymore. Also, to all the "not natural" crowd please remember judge not lest ye be judged. Don't criticize how someone else lives their life as you will likely be sharing a similar final destination

the main point was that what anyone decides is up to them, no judgement, what I was asking for a silencing of the drum beating and a toning down of the rhetoric and volume.

The Anglican Church will be voting on a proposal at the next General Synod in 2017.  
 
The upshot is that a PRIEST will have the personal choice to perform such marriages and if so, The Anglican Church will recognize the marriage.  
 
If a priest chooses not to, that will also be acceptable to the church. The ones that wish to be wed will simply have to find a priest that will marry them or go elsewhere.  
 
The Anglican church wishes to not force a single view on anyone and wants to be inclusive to detractors and proponents alike, because just as in society, it only works if all views are respected.

I know for a fact the my Anglican minister here in Brandon was told a number of years ago that he was mandated to perform same sex weddings if he was approached. This, he was told by his superiors. How far up it came from I cannot attest too. But in fact that it caused such a rift in the congregation that a group separated.

Consenting adults should be allowed to be married ...whether it be man and woman, woman and woman, man and man ... Or multiples of men/women etc. why should polygamy be against the law? It wouldn't be a situation I would be in, but for those who want multiple wives or husbands ,, they should be allowed.

When the most important and overriding factor in your life is who you sleep with and how you do it, you lead a very shallow life.

First, I am actively involved with The Anglican. Church.  
For many years. Parish treasurer, Vestry, warden, etc.  
 
Your term "superiors" point out that you don't have a clear understanding of how episcopal structure works.  
 
Your minister you speak of has ONE SUPERIOR, the Bishop of Brandon.  
 
I know for a fact that No Such Orders were given by the Bishop to any clergy in this Diocese. Because if it was true, it would be pointless because the National church wouldn't recognize it. Why would the Bishop decree something that wouldn't be officially acknowledged? He wouldn't.  
 
You are the victim of rumor and or twisted facts. Every month the Anglican Journal online updates the issue before the next Synod. Therein lies the truth of the matter. Hearsay is not fact and you have confused the two.

and your critical, holier than though attitude are the reason that so many leave the church! For someone who is so active in the church, all I can hear is your rigidity, need to dominate and to be right. Nowhere in your responses do I see the light and love of Jesus.
