Actually no. Like I said people leave such a big gap between vehicles I lane change with no difficulties. It is very simple, too bad more people didn't know how to do it. Traffic flow would actually increase.  
 
This clearly outlines the problem that YOU cause. People create a safe following distance. Let's say that is 3 car lengths. When you decide to cut into that space, the safe following distance is reduced to 1 car length (one ahead of you, you, one behind you)This causes a chain reaction behind you of people hitting their brakes to re-establish that safe following distance. Perhaps you don't notice this because it is all happening behind you.  
 
You say you can change lanes with no difficulties. It actually does cause difficulties for those behind you wanting to drive safely. Just because you can't see it, or are wilfully blind to it, does not mean it doesn't exist.

I try to avoid 18th street north because I think the single lane as far back as Victoria is RIDICULOUS!! However, times that I am in that area, I just go into the M&M's parking lot and leave the other side. Much faster! I think it was maybe Don Brown who suggested it quite awhile back...works great

It opens up a nice space between you and the car behind you leaving me a nice open spot to merge into. What people don't understand is when the light turns green everyone leaves this huge gap between vehicles when accelerating. This leaves plenty of room for vehicles in a right lane to merge.....but in order for that to happen people in the lane need to get their chip off their shoulder of "screw that guy I'm not letting him in" attitude. Besides sppeeding and getting caught,now these drivers might just have to look at the 5 demerit points and if they have a poor driving record could pay up to $3000 in fines for using a cell phone.  
I wish we had more highway patrol on our roads.  
No doubt that it would pay for itself each day.

You are sitting at the lights on 18th,close to Rosser, that note of how long the light is for traffic coming off Rosser into the intersection.  
 
Most times there is a long lull of no traffic on Rosser wanting to turn north onto 18th or going straight thru.  
 
If Rosser had say 15 less seconds for a green, how many cars more would get thru on a longer green for 18th? After a few cycles of the light changing squence that would add up to a lot of cars making there way down 18th !

I was driving North on #10 last night and was surprised how fast people were travelling... Blowing past me like I was standing still - I was going 107!

Not just #10 no matter how fast you go within reason, someone will tailgate you, often they have no desire to pass. It may be a herd mentality or something. The green arrows on Victoria seem to be a problem for some people, they are very short only a few seconds, allowing only a few cars through. Often the first person in line is asleep when the light changes. As far as 18th st. goes I usually get in the left lane way up before Victoria, then not have to worry about merging (less stress that way).
