Just wondering , if anyone could give me some pointers on the class 4 road test? How is it different from the class 5 road test? Thank you !

For class 4 you also need to get a physical done with your doctor. It's a written and a road test. The written is quite like your class 5 but does focus more on safety. I also recall questions about axle lengths haha. The road test is easy. Just making sure you are being safe, checking mirrors, blinds pots etc

I once took a class 4 road test to be able to drive an emergency vehicle (Fire truck with 800 gallons water on board) and only used a regular car, well a Chevy Citation- - :LOL. Seemed weird but that was the requirement for class 4. Test wasn't a whole lot different either - - just make sure you study the book and that your test vehicle is up to snuff - i.e. - lights,brakes, signals,etc.  

Haha I know right? I'm an EMR, and originally got my class 4 so I could drive a 12 passenger van. Thought it was funny that all I had to do was drive around in my cavalier haha

I have heard that for the class 4 road test that you are required to stop at all railway crossings ! Is this true ?

Make sure when you make right turns, you turn into the nearest clear lane, even if it's the parking lane. This also applies to starting a left turn from a one-way street(which will be on the test): if the parking lane is clear before the corner, be sure to be in it before you turn. Remember that the number of mark downs you can have on a Class 4 test is less than on a Class 5!

What the poster above said, the 'marks down' or demerits are key. When I took it, you were allowed to make more mistakes on class 5, then class 4. For class 4, they want to really FINE TUNE your driving skill and be more defensive on the road as you will be in traffic a lot more than class 5 driver.  
 
I think I was allowed or 20 or 25 demerits to pass, whereas when I got my class 5, it was like about 40. Usually 5 point demerit mark is subtracted for every minor mistake unless you do something seriously wrong like rolling through stops, etc., where that can cost you all your points in one shot.

You only stop at crossing if the lights are flashing or the arms are down. You stop at uncontrolled crossing the same as everyone else as well there is nothing different. If you stop at the crossings on 18th for example when the lights aren't flashing you will fail and likely cause an accident.

So for a class 4 road test, unless there's a train , you don't stop at all at any railway crossings ????

The test is basically the same as your class 5 with no parallel parking and more attention to safety. They also take you on lots of 1 way streets so be mindful of those. Good luck

Driving test is same as class 5. But no parallel parking. No you don't need to stop at train crossings. Unless the lights are flashing.That's for class 3 or lower.  
I never had to take a written test, but I got my class 4 in 2004 so things might be different now.  
The only thing that I recommend is that you move to the curb lanes whenever you need to turn, especially on one ways. And signal properly.  
I look at the current class 4 drivers in Brandon and the test must be really easy, because half of them can't drive. So don't get scared.  
If you need to get a refresher call Brandon driving school, they might offer you a simulation test.
