And then...

there is another angle of this story...and that is how easily Canada seems to be at giving out refugee status.
The case is back in the news today of the man who swam across the Red River into Canada in August - he was allowed to stay and today was granted refugee status.
What the h-e-double hockey stick is THAT? This man left his wife and children in his home country, hired various different head hunters to get him across at least six different countries that ALL DENIED him refugee status (including the US - who had actually detained him for some time as well before declining his status application) Then he illegally crossed our border and we give him food, clothing, sure no problem, while we are at it, you can stay.
What a dangerous precedent that sets. Not only does it make Canada look ripe for the taking by any Tom, Dick or Harry that wants to start a new life, but it makes us look like idiots on the world stage. You know, what is the point of having rules and procedures to bring refugees and immigrants into our country legally if we will grant status to anyone who breaks a law to get here? I don't feel like going through all the paperwork, so I will just cross a border on a back road instead.....
Too much head shaking going on lately for my liking....
