We woke up this morning to find out that our property was vandalized! My wife and I have enjoyed our driveway planters for a few years now, and so has the neighborhood. Unfortunately, some COWARD took the liberty of knocking them over and demolishing a couple of them over night. These planters were very expensive and made of concrete. These planters are used all year round to accommodate the seasons. We have had real plants during the summer and autumn. During the winter, we have had small decorated Christmas trees to accent the rest of the house. Our neighbors have told us numerous times,on how they have enjoyed seeing them throughout the year.  
So I've taken this opportunity to express my disappointment and frustration about the recent event of finding them destroyed. What pleasure does one get from destroying ones property? It was a senseless act and demoralizing to see what had taken place. I had called the police to report it, however there is not much they can do.  
These planters were one of a kind, and can not be replaced. I wish it was a simple as that, and we could just " let it go ". It is more of the fact that we feel "violated" and now have to "pick up the pieces" (no pun intended).  
There are many victims of crime at any level and we sympathize with those as well. I just wanted to "vent" and say to the person(s) involved. Get a life and put your energy into something more positive and productive. You are better than your actions, quit being a moron!! What you did was senseless and cowardly.

that does suck however i really think the people who vandalize have no idea what they have done, they dont know that those items will cost you money to replace, they dont know the work you guys put in and they dont know what its like to enjoy making your neighborhood a bit nicer, and unfortunately whether its kids or others they really are clueless and it is senseless

What part of town are you in lots of people are doing security cameras maybe somebody has footage  

The before pictures of the flowers in their planters are beautiful and I can see why you are upset  
 
There is no good explanation or reason anyone would damage stuff like this.

All of these petty criminals who vandalize property, ransack open cars, "tag" buildings, etc. are cowards. They hate to be seen. I'm in the process of putting up some lights and security cameras. Unfortunately, this looks like the way to go in an attempt to keep what you worked for secure. Sorry to hear about your situation.

That's too bad, they really were lovely. I don't know why people feel the need to ruin other people's day, they knew the time and effort and cost, they just didn't care. I had a similar thing happen in my home town. They came all the way up my driveway, almost to my front door to throw one of my strawberry pots into the other one, destroying both.  
I hope you don't give up and choose to try again with your seasonal decorations, dont let them continue to ruin things for you.

Thanks for all your moral support and insight on this matter. There have been people that we know that have added their personal support too. Yes, it's a set back, but we are not going to let this hold us down. If you have lemons, then make lemonade and enjoy the drink. I don't think that I'll require " All the King's horses or all the King's men" - but we are going to try and put our planters together again. Cheers

Vandalism is deliberate. I think it doesn't matter how much something cost. Destroying someone's property is sick and disgusting. I had a tire slashed last month and the problem is that it has to come out of my pocket.

Having things stolen or vandalized is horrible, but the feeling of being violated can be worse than the act itself. Sorry to hear about your planters.

yes i agree it is done deliberately and the vandals don't care (or they wouldn't do it) but i think they all have no clue what it costs whether monetary or in the case of jealousy they dont know what it cost in work ethic and pride, that why they are left on the outside looking in jealously, if only they knew that they could be included too with hard work and good ethics, unfortunately vandals on either spectrum are clueless and the victim is left to deal with their mess

I can understand someone stealing something for gain but senseless vandalism makes me even more furious. Your yard looks beautiful. I hope you can repair your flower pots so you can use then again.

perhaps more than one person and yes they may look cool, brave or whatever to their friends but i always think them as cowards because they do it when no one sees them and they brag to their friends.  
I never put anything outside, looks plain but less damage. COWARD COWARD

Your planters were beautiful and undoubtedly enjoyed by you and your neighbors. Hopefully you'll replace them and home insurance will help cover some of the loss. When I saw the pictures I was reminded of a cement / plaster studio near where I used to live in North Burnaby. http://www.italdecorltd.com/gallery/slideshow.php?set_albumName=album01 No this is not a plug. Even without replacing the urns, your efforts to beautify will be enjoyed. Don't let the idiots win.

One piece of advice I might give is to put a camera in your driveway or somewhere looking out into that portion of your property. This way if something like this happens again or any other incident you have it on video and the police may be able to do something about it. It would also be helpful in the event your home is robbed or something awful like that, you may have a better chance at identifying the person(s) involved.

disagree that these vandals don't know the cost. In fact, I believe they do know the cost and that is what fuels there desire to destroy these items. It gives them some sense of empowerment. Have you ever just driven around and looked at all the things that these individuals without conscience have damaged in our city? Drive by the parks and see how things have been broken and spray painted. It is sad that these people have made the choice to have no respect for public property and the property of others. You can bet that if this happened to them, they would be outraged.
