My son has been on dialysis for over 2 years, waiting for a kidney  
transplant. This Christmas, that transplant was supposed to finally take place, and we would be having Christmas at the Children's Hospital in Winnipeg. So, I did not put our name in for a Hamper. The transplant was called off...and now we will be home. So I called the Cheer Board on Dec . 7th, to request a hamper...and I was told "Good luck, there's no food left". I called other organizations, but everybody says to call the Cheer Board. Is there anybody else that would still have a Christmas Hamper since we are on a very limited budget?

I don't know of any other places providing a Christmas hamper. Would you and your family be able to attend the Christmas Dinner? You could call and find out if they are still delivering a meal on Christmas day.

I know how u feel minus the sick child I called and was denied too, also tried the food bank for a regular hamper to help out some and was told I had to call in to make appt. Called in and told they don't take a opts over the phone. Confusing to say the least.

Velda I'm not sure who you phoned for a food hamper but 75% of the appointments are done over the phone. If you are requiring a hamper it is best to phone or come in but don't expect to get one right away as the volume of people needing hampers are high this time of year.

cmore: Unfortunately we can not go to the Christmas dinner this year. But I would like to say a big Thanks to all the people that make a wonderful meal for people going through hard times!
