hello, I am moving to Brandon in January and I don't really know many people in Brandon. I am 20 years old and I would love to have people to hang out with and enjoy a good chat with.

Brandon is not the best place to make friends. Maybe if you are a guy but I have been living here for a while, not from here and it is very clicky!

Ive never had any trouble making friends here, In fact Brandon is one of the best places ive made friends! We live in a friendly city, assuming your outgoing and friendly to others.

I have been here since 2005 and find that to be very true...

I moved here in July, and had the same issue. Making new friends CAN be difficult, but making a post on here is a good idea - I did the same thing and met a few people. Don't be afraid to organize a get together yourself. Join a rec club of some kind, even if it's something you're not super interested in, and you are bound to meet people. Also, don't be too picky and choosy about your company. From what I hear, that seems to be the problem with most 'groups' around here. It will likely be tricky at first but don't worry, you'll be fine. Feel free to shoot me a message once you arrive!

For some ideas on what to do and where to meet others here, search eBrandon for threads on activities, what to do, etc. in Bdn. There are many folks who complain that there is nothing to do and nobody to hang out with. It is what you make it. You need to get out and explore all the options...and there are many.  
 
If it might be something you might like to try, the judo club would love to have you and it is quite friendly. You can try it out a couple of times for free to see if you like it. There are people of all ages there (students and working folks) and the adult class members are a good and fun bunch. Just let me know if you want to know more.

been here for 10 years and agree, difficult to make friends

These threads always surprise me. I find folks in Brandon friendly and find it easy meet new people.

I also have been here for 10 years, and I have found it hard to meet new friends. It is kinda clicky lol. So if anyone wants to ibm and chat, feel free

It's my opinion that some people are more outgoing than others. Joining special interest clubs or groups, volunteering with something that interests you, working with the public, etc., is a great start! The Saturday meet up group here seems to be enjoyable for some when they get together.  
 
Welcome to Brandon soon. In my opinion, it's got no more cliques than any other place. It definitely is what you make of a move to a new place!

Brandon can and always will be a clicky little city...but once you move here and start working someplace I'm sure you may meet a few people your age that you can hang with.  
 
Me personally I don't like this city but do to circumstances I have about another year here and then im gone back to the country and the peace and quiet.  
 
Its never bothered me nor have I took the initiative to bother making friends, quite frankly because I don't like people all that much. lol that's why I got a dog.  
 
But you have taken the right steps to look for people to hang with by starting this thread, good luck to you, at 20 years old im sure you will find an accepting group that will welcome you.

Join groups that interest you so there is a basis for that friendship to develop on.  
 
Service clubs are starting to organize younger groups such as the Wheat City Lions supporting the development of the Brandon University Lions Club. Rotary has a young adult group as well.  
 
The Humane Society is looking for dog walkers and other volunteer help. Fund for Furry Friends needs foster parents for the pets that are awaiting permanent adoption. Even to help another person so they can go on a vacation would be a great way to meet others that love pets.  
 
Church groups provide fellowship, again, some have events aimed at young adults.  
 
Before you can be a friend, you have to determine who you are and what you want in your life. Do not change to accommodate that friend but find someone who fits into your life.
