Drives me crazy! It's ridiculous how few ppl seem to know that. They always seem to get treated as 4-ways

I see many people turning tight on the red when the light CLEARLY states no turning right for A GOOD reason..and the coming OUT of timmies at the lights onto 18th is yet another confusion people have...there are ONLY TWO LANES...ONE FOR RIGHT TURNERS AND STRAIGHT AWAYS.which also by the way has a NO RIGHT TURN ON RED SiGN!!!..THEN THE LEFT LANE...THERE ARE NOT THREE LANES LIKE PEOPLE SOMETIMES THINK...YES PEOPLE ARE DUMB THSTS MY RANT lol. I wouldnt be surprised if there is yet another accident at this intersecrion soon because of stupidity.

i am going southbound on 18th waiting to cross the highway, and someone pulls up on my right side thinking im wrong and they in the straight lane. When in fact is a large right hand turn lane so a semi is able to make the right hand turn .... i agree its annoying !!! Also the right on the red light .... it needs to be enforced !! People turn right on these lights all the time, but with 0 enforcement, nobody will stop doing it !!

The intersection you are speaking of, if you are in the left lane, you can only turn left as per signage. The right lane is quite wide and, if a regular size vehicle is waiting to go straight, there is generally room for another regular sized vehicle to have room to squeeze by and make a right turn going west on the highway.

i travel this everyday, as i live close. There is no signage, and the only markings is the lines they paint in the summer, with snow and ice you cant see them.I hate to inform you but that left had turn lane is also a straight lane. I actually had a guy hit me around 5 years ago when i went straight in this left hand turn lane, and he side swiped me. Autopac said its not just a left hand turn lane, its also a straight lane. So long story short thats a left hand and straight lane, and the right lane is extra large for semi to turn .... as they need a bit more room to turn this corner ...... hey im only going on what autopac deemed , but hey its not a perfect world.  

Actually there are signs up posting that the left lane must turn left. So maybe pay attention to the signs. Prime example how little people actually read signs

If you are heading SOUTH from the Esso/Tim's intersection & crossing Trans. Canada highway. there is a sign that clearly shows TWO lanes, Left lane for Turning and the right lane is for straight ahead and Right Turn. There is also a sign attached to the light standard that clearly shows a left turn lane only.  
Check for the sign, it is on the right side of the road a bit before the intersection.

For example tonight I saw 3 people go through red lights, one of them turning left. That's just dangerous: I wonder if we will get red light cameras in this city!

What about all the people running red lights in this city not to mention all the cell phone junkies - the police could make a killing with all those infractions enforced....... and if some people say police has more important crimes to take care off - true maybe but if you create a position for that specific reason and it would pay for itself and some ..... just my thoughts

The Brandon Police Service does have a traffic unit that deals with traffic laws enforcement and accidents. There are three unmarked Ford tarsus that are part of the traffic unit, so there's at least three officers per shift that spend most of there time doing traffic enforcement.

In August of 2014 that intersection was changed so that there is a left turn lane and then a right turn lane and straight lane(same lane). There is a sign posted at that intersection on the traffic signal on the left hand side that clearly shows which lanes which. At the time they also painted lines but since then they have not painted any lines and the lines are gone.

One thing that I've notuced more and more lately and is starting to get on my nerves is people getting into a turning lane to make a turn, but instead of getting completely into the lane, they get halfway into the turning lane and halfway into the other lane. Then a lot of the time they have to stop and then they hold up the traffic going straight and most times you cant go around them because there's traffic in the lane beside you.

That might be the case but they surely don't enforce cell phone and red light violations enough my point is if you designate one or two just to enforce those violations maybe people think twice about breaking those laws if they have to pay fines .......

The next time you are at that intersection, waiting to go straight through in the left lane, I encourage you to look just to your left. You might even be able to reach out and touch the sign that clearly illustrates that the left lane is for left turns.  
 
It is quite ironic that you are criticizing people for doing the right thing while you are making a mistake.

a picture of that intersection in question. Unless they just added a sign there since July 2014, there is only a sign for right turns. There's no signage in that little boulevard.

Definitely could use a few officers just targeting cell phone users.  
 
The law is a joke if not enforced!!  
Any day driving take a look at drivers constantly looking down towards the wheel. Then look up for a split second to make sure they are still in proper lane then back down to cell phone....  
 
They are definitely not changing the radio station!!

Your pop up sign would never work. The over height signs at Kemnay DO practically pop up and smack drivers on the head and they don't work either. And those are supposedly [i]professional[/i] drivers!

The signs at 18th and the Trans Canada going south were put up in August of 2014 when the intersection was repaved.

The no right turn on red light signs at that intersection are not obvious to see. I'm sure that it would help immensely if the signs were right beside the lights. I know that I probably wouldn't notice the signs with their current location, and I'm guessing that most motorists don't see the signs either. I look at the traffic light, not the post that the light is attached too. I try to obey the traffic laws.

Its pretty hard to reach a little further with your eyes to see the sign far away off on the pole of the intersection...but ya know if you were really really observant you would notice it...its a sign ots there on the pole at the interesection for the intersection...what else what it be for...also im glad i posted in this forum because now people CLEARLY NOW KNOW that that is a straight right no turn on RED lane lmao.

Right hand turn on red is legal unless there is a sign saying no right turn on red. Stop and proceed to make your turn if safe to do so.

A real problem area is where I live. The turn off at 18th and Willow crest is constantly a dangerous place. I have lost track of how many times I almost got hit turning on to that street because people can't wait for a second for someone to turn. They automatically drive on the shoulder. I bet if a cop Sat there in a ghost car he would give out alot of tickets. It is especially dangerous when there are two of us from both sides (North and South) that need to turn. Please stop traveling on the shoulder it only takes less than 10 seconds to turn.

The flashing lights mean proceed with caution. So i guess It would be to cautious to stop and make sure nobody else is ripping through like I assume you do? And there is signs on the #1 and 18th st intersection going south. If you haven't noticed that, you make me mad every time you go straight when you should be turning left. And if you say there is no signs, then you shouldn't be driving. At at the very least you should be making your way down to total eye care to get a pair of glasses. I guess lasik Is a good option aswell...

i guess i got sideswiped at this intersection before they changed it, and have always thought this was the case since autopac ruled it was.

At least im not driving around texting, speeding and flipping everybody off, at least i do make the attempt to be right, even if im wrong .... lol !!
