| | | Off the Cuff said "I was at a ward meeting last year and tree trimming was brought up as an issue. The General Manager said that the City hires and trains their staff as arborists. I would suggest that they are well aware of the proper care of the trees. They also said the city has a map of all of the trees they own and have scheduled maintenance. I think they do a pretty great job on my street. Where have you noted a bad job? " |

Most arborists have degrees, or at least a certificate of some kind from a post-secondary institution.
You mean all these yahoos from the Parks Dept have university degrees and are working for the Parks Dept? I think not.
You can train someone with some arborist know-how, but it doesn't mean they'll be good at it. Just like you can train a guy at H&R Block to do taxes, but it doesn't mean they're an accountant.
As for bad job, come take a gander at my neighbourhood. They did save a few trees, I'll grant them that, but the canopy has been destroyed on my street.
