Im just getting out of a bad 9 year relationship. I have been looking for my own place for a few weeks now.. i was just wondering if there is anybody that helps people get started and help towards the rent and damage deposit for the first little while? I do work but i dont make enough for full rent plus damage depost.

Look in the classifieds for someone wanting a roommate.. That way you have a place to live and is more affordable and you can save for your place while living there!

Sometimes landlords can be forgiving and negotiate something if you find a place you are really interested in.

I have animals. So i need something thats pet friendly. And honestly i have been living with someone for 9 years i just want to get a place f my own.

I'm sorry but you may need to be more realistic. You don't want a roommate, you have animals, and don't have enough $ to start fresh on your own. I'm afraid in your situation you may need to compromise. What you're wanting vs what you can actually afford.

I don't think daphne is jumping on the person. She is trying to offer advice. It does sound like this person will need to compromise in order to find a place. I suggest getting rid of any and all extras (cable, Internet, saving on groceries, etc) until you can save up enough to move out. It's a sucky situation . Good luck!

Contact Employment and Income Assistance (or is it Family Services and Housing in the phone book) in the provincial building. Even if you do not qualify for Social Assistance benefits there is a rent assist program I believe.
