Well I guess the fact that Drew was not a Cabinet minister under the NDP had nothing to do with ability. We now have 2 PC MLA''s from Brandon the second largest city in Manitoba and still no cabinet ministers were appointed today. It will be interesting to see how Brandon does under a PC government over the next 4 years.

Can't do any worse than we did with ndp representation

Even though I voted for Len I didn't expect him to get the nod for a cabinet minister. He's a rookie  
 
I never once thought Drew wasn't in cabinet for all those years because he was lacking in ability.  
 
Perhaps next time around Reg or Len or both can be on cabinet?

In the speNDP's 17 years in power, how many of those years were Brandon represented by someone in cabinet?

I could be wrong but wasn''t Drew minister of education, training and youth and also minister of family services and housing back in the early 2000`s? And recently a minister of Winnipeg relations or something along those lines? Im pretty sure he was.

Pallister needs to pick whomever he feels he works best with, end of....

This new PC government has failed to appoint two very important cabinet positions, Conservation and Water Stewardship. Surely with the water quality of our lakes and problems from the last flood of five years ago (many people have not been paid for their losses). Has this been a deliberate over sight or a way to cut costs. Brian Pallister is certainly living up to slash and burn tactics of the former Federal Conservative Government. I guess if we bury our heads in the ground all our problems will go away.

If his 5 years in Brandon mean he is from here, then his 20+ years in Winnipeg mean what ? Before Brandon he lived near Portage for 17+ years. How does this mean he is from Brandon ?  
 
I have lived over 45 years in Brandon. In my 20's I lived in Winnipeg for 7 years. Does Pallister math mean that I am from Winnipeg ?

Just out of interest (and entertainment) sake, how do you figure Pallister lived in Winnipeg for 20+ years........you seem to have left out his 5-10 years in Ottawa, his time teaching after university in rural Manitoba and the fact he was only in Provincial politics from 92-97 (residence in P la P)and 2012 until now (residence in Winnipeg)......with all of your NDP math going on, he must be in his 90's!!!!!

If he's lived here 5 years, he's what? 50 years old? That's peanuts. He's not "from Brandon", he just lived here a short while among a bunch of other places as you so succinctly pointed out.  
 
Oh wait, I just googled it. He's 61. And according to Google, he went to BU. So I'm thinking his 5 years was as a student back in the 70's. I'm sure that qualifies him plenty to speak about [i]current[/i] issues facing Brandon.

I apologize for clouding the issues with FACTS.......could argue all night but it isn't worth it - ......but I did find the exchange entertaining....I totally agree with you and Abbysmum that he isn't from here and probably has little to no knowledge of the current issues....as for silence from the Tory supporters, I guess they just don't make as much "noise" as the speNDP supporters.....enjoy the evening!

As of the elimination of some Departments like the former apparently Conservation and Water Stewardship, we shall wait and see how that shakes out. The staff and programs are still there, just under a different department. And flooding? That is actually the responsibility of Infrastructure and Transportation for some years now...

Thanks Degenerate 108 - looks very reasonable - my only qualm with the information presented is that legislative assistant (Drew) from 2008-2014 isn't a cabinet position............so there was no cabinet representation for one reason or another from 08-14.........about 7 of the 17 years in power. I'm not saying it is good or bad, just saying that those appear to be the FACTS.

It was well known or appeared that it was going to be cliff or Reg .. Both stellar guys. We also got Eileen in there as well as cattle guy Pederson .. I'd say the perimeteritis has been resolved  
Reg Len and Doyle will all have an impact , so rest assure Brandon and westman, our voices will be heard. As to the " I'm from  
Brandon line " .. I guarantee he wouldn't have answered bob Bruce or bill turner that way .. Clay young and the morning crew on 880 have definitely decreased Their credibility and status in the " important reporters " in westman ... 880 should have hired barry lamb over Bartley rj and clay

Our city is the second largest in TOBA. Rookie Len I can see having to wait but not Reg.

The same group that ran on paved back lanes in Winnipeg last time? I have pretty much given up on established politicians now. I can not remember seeing or hearing the parties talking about paying down the debt.  
 
Greg pretty much said he did not care. Debt servicing cost was 5.blah percent. First that 5 percent plus can buy lots . Second it is that low because interest rates are a at a low. What happens if it skyrockets?  
 
The PC's -well this new group scare me. Cuts have to come but their first promised cut of PST which is a revenue cut is plain stupid until we are back to surplus and have a plan to pay down the debt.  
 
This group of PC's I do not know. It is Winnipeg centric. They know they have to control/deal with the NDP spending problems yet are rushing to revenue cuts before the books are looked at.  
No Minister at the cabinet table is not the end of the world.  
It is though in my opinion a idiotic choice that shows that the gang behind the last Premier must care about Brandon's thinkers/movers/voters as this group behind Brian.  
 
The day to day views about any issue that directly impacts Brandon is yet again not addressed by a Brandonite/westnanite at the cabinet table.  
 
MLA'S like Len or Reg being called in before or after big decisions or small are made in my opinion is just not right for a city that services 180,000 plus.  
 
No one can tell me that Winnipegers know our market or needs and concerns than someone living here.  
 
I have seen the differences in retail/wholesale/jobber/pipeline thinking between Winnipeg based people and here. Night and day IMO.

like Reg and Len''s voice won''t be heard. I have no doubt that these guys will be heard!  
 
I have heard, and if anyone can shed some light, that some people who went to vote and have voted for Reg in Brandon west before that the boundary was changed and they had to vote for Cullen if I remember correctly.  
 
By the list provided by degenerate the ministers get changed frequently so maybe our guys will get in next shuffle?
