So I'm at a point in my life where I no longer want to be in the career that I've been in for so many years. I have no idea what else I want to do and I never seem to get a call back after applying for jobs as my eduction is no longer up to date...where do people start?

Look at what's out there, than cross check against things you enjoy. If there is nothing out there than see if any of your hobbies could be profitable. Than if that doesn't work go to ACC and check out their pamphlet area where they have everything from learning to trim hooves to native studies to trades

There is a company on Gateway called Veritas and they specialize in career changes. They'll take you through skill and interest inventories, and they'll help you with resumes and cover letters as well.
