Council denies Renaissance recommendation to appoint Caldwell

Interesting to read today about the new Renaissance Brandon appointments. Renaissance itself recommended Corey Roberts (Clancys) and Drew Caldwell to fill two vacancies.
City Council gets final say and recently voted to have Roberts and Brandon citizen Dianne Hastings in stead of Caldwell.
Whether you agree with the decision or not, this brings back to the forefront the idea of how much council should be involved in the direction of the organization. Do you think that since the City is funding they should have final say, and if not how much involvement do you think they should have in order to have the most effective organization representing the Renaissance District?
