Anyone know ow what happened at mcdonalds of the hill? It's all taped off

Why is that??

We were wondering the same thing when we were getting back into the city earlier?

I am told it is being renovated and they had to close it for 12 hours

Shot in the dark, but possible they're adding a build a burger kiosk a la many McDs in Canada?

I noticed the Richmond McDs has a spot cleared for their kiosks.

Looks yummy. But OMG the nail polish the food prep girl is half wearing! Ack! Lol....

I thought all food prep people had to wear gloves? More concerned about that than the nail polish.

When I worked there many years ago we didn't wear gloves. I would go home with my fingers smelling of pickle juice and onions. I doubt it has changed. I don't think cooks in sit down restaurants use gloves either.

Hands are supposed to be washed and sanitized constantly is the food service industry.  
 
The build your burger idea seems like a good one but I don't really know how it will fly any McDonalds.

Health practices/gloves/hand washing could be an interesting topic for a thread of its own. As far as the topic of the original post, is there any more info on the temporary closure(s)?

I know someone who works there. It's for the build your own burger thing and to add a larger bakery section.

Used one of these at Mcd's in Neepawa last night. Quite fast and you know you get what you ordered...because you did it.

Went there for lunch today and used the touch screen machine for our order. We didn't build our own burger though. It was easy enough. I paid by cash so had to do that with the cashier but than a server brought our tray to the table. I noticed them going around asking if anyone wanted coffee refills and they also clear the table for you if you'd like. It's a bit congested IMO but I'm sure after awhile it will be fine.

It's a pretty bad model if that is the case....she's missing her middle nail polish/gel. Lol.  
 
But really- would love to try some of the combos mentioned!

Extra bit of bakery stuff looks good.... we like our Tim's Croissants but imagine we'll be getting our share of McDs' too along with danishes.  
 
Sign on the door of the Victoria Ave location says closed at 5:30pm today, to re-open at 7am. Safe to guess Richmond is up next?

Real easy to use, right down to picking how many cream/sugar in your coffee. Nice touch to have someone going table to table offering refills similar to how a regular restaurant would. I gather that the "create your taste" burgers will in fact also be starting today too.

I hope it starts today. I was looking forward to trying out the create your own burger thing. Maybe someone will call them and update the thread with what they find

The info re it starting today comes directly from staff in-store, so assume it's good

Went to Richmond at lunch and they do not have the create your taste option but the self serve kiosks are there. 4 kiosks and down to 2 manned registers. The rest of the counter has been replaced with a pickup counter/bakery display. Was pretty slow but I was also taking my time looking at the customization options. Also had a couple of workers that were dressed like flight attendants to watch over and help people out.

I guess it must be the end of the month for "create your taste" like I first thought I saw.

I would feel about as much guilt as I would taking the right lane down 18th passing 2 blocks of traffic only to smoothly merge with the traffic flow.

The new Mcdonalds. It's fast food not a fancy restaurant. I absolutely love the coffee but I feel outta place going in there in my work clothes for a cup now.
