We have MTS and Netflix is available on the guide....just wondering if it's available if you have westman communications

All you need is a smart TV to get Netflix

So far MTS is currently the only provider to offer Netflix right on their equipment. It's pretty handy actually! Don't need to hook any different systems and things up to your TV if you don't have a game system, media streaming things, or a Smart TV.

If you have a smart TV Netflix should appear on that TV's "internet hub". Use the remote that came with the TV, as Westman's remote does not have any internet connection.

just got a free months subscription and have been accessing it on MTS TV on channel 55.

I don't have a cable subscription, I just have a Roku hooked up to my home wifi network (Westman) and get Netflix like that.

Netflix has nothing to do with your specific internet provider. All you need is ANY internet connection. Sign up for a Netflix account on any device (phone, computer, playstation, TV, etc.) and you can now access that account from ANY of those devices, ANYWHERE, regardless of the type of internet you have.  
 
For example, I don't have cable - only internet. I can access my Netflix on my Smart TV, my computer, my phone, and my Playstation. If I travel, my phone or computer can use Netflix no matter when I go, so long as I'm connected to the internet.

What the OP is asking is if the Westman cable digital box has the Netflix app on it just like the MTS digital box does.  
Then there is no need to hook it up to an XBOX, Play Station, Roku, etc or use the Smart Tv.  
 
So far only the MTS boxes are the only ones that have the Netflix app by the sounds of it

Ahh, I see. Misunderstood. But assuming you have internet as well (cause cable and no internet... what year is it?), you still shouldn't require the cable box with so many other ways to access. Concept seems strange to me.

The benefit is that all TVs get Netflix without having to buy roku, Xbox, Apple TV, smart TVs, or whatever.

You need a smart tv to access Netflix. You can also access Netflix using PS3, PS4, XBOX, WII, APPLE TV or MTS cable box. So no, westman cable box does not have that feature.

And sony dvd players.

Because I wanted to give my parents a Netflix gift card. We have Netflix on MTS but they have westman and have no game systems or a smart tv. So wasn't sure if it would be a useless gift or not. Thanks for all the replies

Get them a Chromecast and they can stream Netflix direct to the TV.

That works great and I do it all the time. <:img src=:images/icon_smiley.gif>: TVs have gotten better now and if its plugged directly into an outlet casting will automatically switch inputs on your TV for you. And their regular TV remote will control the streaming.  
 
Anyways, on topic here. Services like CraveTV are localized to Canada so it''s easier for them to be incorporated into a cable package. With Netflix, it''s probably harder to pull that off because it services all of Canada: not just Manitoba.  
 
I'll ask on one of the other forums I visit to see how it's handled in the US.

Netflix is not available with any cable provider in the US so it might be a long time (knock on wood) before it happens here in Canada. But you never know!!!

Bell in Ontario offers this,was just there visiting family and it's offered right there on their cable guide. Ch____ usede it frequently
