I can't seem to find blueberries anywhere in town this week!!! I looked at superstore, both sobeys and wal-mart!! And started looking at beginning of last week and again over the weekend and again yesterday but can't keep running side to side of Brandon just for some blueberries!!! Does anyone know where they have seen them VERY recently in a store!? I have even asked sobeys and Walmart and they both said they have no idea when they will be getting more in!

Are out of season so what stores might get could be very sparse at best. Can you use frozen?

For baking I most certainly can but my toddler likes to eat them in her lunch for snack and she won't touch frozen ones as they aren't "dry" when they thaw. And definitely won't eat them frozen! She's so picky that I am determined to find some - as lunch meals and snacks are limited to what she will eat that is good for her!!

Have you checked the Co-op on Richmond Avenue? Maybe give them a call before you make the trip.

Blueberries are no longer in season. There probably won't be any until they're in season down south, a couple of months. And even then, they're usually not very good. My kids learned pretty early that some foods we only eat at certain times of the year.  
 
Maybe take this opportunity to get your toddler to try other finger foods. Apple slices with peanut butter. Grapes cut in 1/2. Banana chunks dipped in yogurt. Cucumber slices. Red pepper strips.  
 
A child needs to be introduced to a new food sometimes 12 or more separate times before they'll eat them. But trust me, at that age if they get hungry enough they'll try them, especially if you model eating them (or it they have something to dip them in!).

Model the behaviour it's so important banana bread with the over ripe banana and dip with Apple slices... With my children and their age differences 16, 13, 9, and 6 have made so many mistakes. great growth with involving there palate we choose to invest including the most affordable option for the family to enjoy.  
 
Like life changes so do food choices i:nclude and involve your little one and you're interest in other food and preparations.

Also keep moming on! I'm sure you doing a great job, to the others who posted giving their 2 cents. No one asked you. Adults and kids are different. Kids can go 2 weeks without eating . Their brains are wired different than adults. So starving out sometimes is not the answer.

My 2 cents is just my opinion: that said maybe some can appreciate the difference in an opinion takes on getting other points of view.... Happy reading!

your suggestions are instead of fruit for a snack, to hide the fruit in banana bread and with dips and spreads? if you're going to suggest alternatives why not just apples and bananas? they're delicious too all by themselves lol  
 
were missing blueberries over here as well. cantaloupes have been cheap lately and my kids like it as well as previously mentioned apples.

Thanks for some inputs! This is for a daycare snack so apples and bananas won't cut it. I can't rely on a worker to baby her or waste a whole banana for her to eat a quarter at most, etc. I'll just have to keep my eyes out and hope her taste buds change as she grows! Unlike what some people suggested, I have tried a TON of options over time and have wasted just that much! But again, thanks for some of your inputs- I will be going to superstore to get my blueberries as I originally was asking

My wife works in the Bigway out in Souris and said they still have blueberries in stock which shows they might still be in season, I wouldn't think it would be worth the trip out, but that's not my decision. The season will be ending soon, so hopefully your toddler finds another favourite treat.  
Side note. We live in a pretty interesting world were things like blueberries as well as cherries and other goodies are becoming something we can enjoy nearly all year round, love being able to get cherries in the middle of the winter.

I recommend calling first. I was there yesterday. From afar it looked like blueberries, but it was actually little grapes that were dark blue/purple. Maybe there were blueberries too but I didn't see any.

Does your little one like pancakes? If you put the batter in the pan first, then just ad each frozen blueberry at a time, they won't run and make the batter purple. That way she gets her berries and you get to use frozen.

Yup, Bigway in Souris still has blueberries, although the more we talk about this the greater the chance is they'll disappear, did I mention I like blueberries.
