We have a teen aged cousin who would like to come visit us on weekends via the bus. He's a bit hesitant as he's never been on one but it's easier for us adults for him to take this route lol so we're hoping to ease his fears. It's been years since any of us have been on the buses. Are they quite busy? Also, I remember reading on here that the buses sometimes leave early. How early should we be there so that he doesn't miss the bus? It's only from plap to here and then back so I'm sure he'll be fine but it's something new so understandably he's a bit nervous

Your best bet would be to call the office here in Brandon for full details....204-727-0643 I do know from experience that bus drivers will find seats close to the front if not the front seat, to keep an eye out for their safety... Hope this will help you...

I found that they usually come in and leave late. But it's been 2 years I hope it's better.

You should arrive usually an hour early but then again, that's in Winnipeg because you have to go through security check. And buses don't usually leave early, usually late sometimes. But most part they are on time with leaving and arriving at the destination.

Check with the bus depot but the last time I rode the bus it left Brandon shortly after 7 pm and arrived in Portage around 8:30 at the mall parking lot near the West end Tim Hortons. It used to go to the old train station on Fisher Ave but now it departs from the mall.  
 
I believe the bus from Portage arrives in Brandon at a little after 11 PM at night. I've taken the bus a few times either way and sometimes it's full while other times it's half empty. The length of the trip may vary if they have to stop in McGregor, Austin or Carberry.

It gives all the details in the greyhound website as well ..just put in the date, place to and from and it'll show you pick up, destination, stops etc.

My teenaged son frequently does the Brandon-Winnipeg trip and subsequent return. Sometimes it's full and he has to share the seat beside him, and most times it's not. With a full charge on his cell and a bag of chips & a drink, he's perfectly fine. The service is a bit sketchy so make sure there are games on his electronics that don't use data or internet. Some of the buses have wifi, but not all of them. Some of them have a USB plug to put a charger in, but not all of them. We go about 30 min early to the bus. It's plenty of time, especially for a PLP-Brandon trip. The trickiest part for me is buying the ticket for the person on the other end, it costs extra. It's better if you send the family the $ and they buy the ticket themselves than it is if you buy it for them to pick up. I'm sure the trip will be fine and things will go perfectly smoothly.
