I just noticed on my friends facebook page that CEYS is waiting for funding again as of today.  
 
DO other non profits have this same issues?

All the time.

I see its that time of year again. I feel for the people that work in these places not knowing if you will have a job.  
 
CEYS has been around forever and has done a lot of good things for the Youth in our community. I sure hope they continue. I have seen some kids go through the program there and it has given them confidence and they have gone on to get a job.

What I don't understand is there are a few employment places in Brandon. Kind of like services for homelessness. Could these places not join together and make one service location and try and secure combined funding?

CEYS has been a godsend to my small business. The funding that they have provided to offer apprenticeships to underemployed people was such a blessing. I really hope that they are able to keep doing what they are doing.

CKLQ had this last week... it really is sad that they don't have funding longer than one year!!!!

Morning ebrandon. As of October 28, CEYS contract/funding ran out. While we are trying to stay positive that our new proposal submitted to Service Canada will be signed any day now… we have received our notice and our last day is November 11.  
Our programs are designed specifically for youth who do not have the skills, experience needed to successfully compete in the job market. We often see youth who don’t have the confidence or even the home supports to assist them in making the right choices. We have had many success stories from our participants over the years, and hopefully will have many more.  
While we are now a registered charity, we have applied for other funding, but the majority of our funding does come from Service Canada.  
The staff at CEYS wants to thank all our clients and the community for their continued support.

CEYS is a fantastic organization, and I am sorry that this is a repeated need. Many programs in MB/Canada are only funded on a year-to-year basis, which is absolutely not the way things should be. Programs could be multi-year funded, saving huge amounts of money in terms of government time/staffing in processing applications. Unfortunately, funders are often working with short-term $. A huge issue, and very difficult for people doing very good work with very poor job security. I do think there is a case, though for services in Brandon to be centralized (NOT reduced, but, indeed, all under one roof.

Just wanted everyone to know that CEYS doors are still open so please stop in if you are job searching or just to say hello.  
 
We are fighting to keep our office open, and have been able to do this by donations received (as we are a registered charity) from some local supporters and emergency funding sources but the funds are dwindling.  
 
We are still waiting for our Service Canada Funding and are staying positive that our contract will be signed soon. We have been told that about 900 applications were submitted to Employment and Social Development Canada and they are making every effort to process them.

I'm a little surprised CEYS is having such trouble getting support with their petition. Brandon, let's help them out so they can continue to help our youth with employment!
