I was just thinking it might be nice to start a thread sharing the kindness of others this holiday season.  
Today I was going through the checkout at Payless and an older gentleman came up behind me and said "excuse me, I don't know if this is any good to you but you can have it if you like. I thought I'd buy a pair of shoes today but I guess not" and he passed a $10 off coupon over to the cashier. I wish I would have been quick enough to offer to buy him a coffee. You probably won't read this but if you do, thank you, it was very much appreciated.

Just wonder why he didn't buy his shoes, like he had planned?

That was nice of him!  
 
Karen...maybe he didn't find a pair he liked?

I did overhear him asking the sales lady if they had a style in wide and she said that they didn't. Maybe that's why?

(acts of Random Kindness) sure brighten a person's day! I'm making insulated cat houses for a Neepawa rescue group & desperately needed insulation. One Brandon lady donated TWO unopened bags of fibreglass insulation. Yesterday, a lovely man donated all the bits & pieces of 1/2" plywood left over from building a new house PLUS all the left-over rigid insulation!! I know it doesn't seem that spectacular an ARK but both of these people could have just dumped the building materials in the landfill but instead went out of their way to contact me & help out.

Found something that clearly had fallen out of the bottom of someone's cart on Saturday at Walmart, & I took it in to customer service in case the person who lost it got home and realized they had bought it but never made it home with it... sure hope someone went back for it!

Found a student card at parking lot of Healty living centre the other day and took it to receiptson. Hopefully receiption surprised the card owner by calling her to pick up her student card.

Gave an older gentleman and his wife a gas discount coupon when he was pumping gas. Then I went golfing after. Good karma as I golfed really well and had a ton of fun!

We were grocery shopping about a month ago and mis-calculated our total cost. We didn't have enough money, so we told the cashier we wouldn't buy the tray of chicken legs. The lady behind us paid it for us though.

Offered an old man a seat on the bus the other day, when everyone was standing there in the isle.  
 
Dropped off some coats at the soup kitchen for whoever needs em, while I was volunteering my time over the lunch hour.  
 
Also, the store sold me some bread at half the regular price. Bless their heart.

Gave a young lad (14 or 15) a ticket to the Wheaties game that we couldn't use. Went up to him at the box office and offered it to him. He gladly took it and smiled a mile wide along with a big thank you. Another time gave a youngster around 13ish money to get home in a cab after a hockey game, sounded like his dad couldn't drive, couldn't reach mom, his phone was dead and didn't know anyone to call for a ride. He said he would walk but he lived in the east end so no way I would let him walk in the dark. Talked to the cabbie, paid him, and sent him home. (ps...he had taken a cab before so he was comfortable with it). If possible, I would have driven him home myself.

When you are shopping, and they ask at the till "Would you like to donate"?  
 
I had said "yes" every single time, everywhere, for the last 15 years.  
 
Sometimes I even prompt them with "Aren't you supposed to ask me something?".  
 
If I can afford to shop at Safeway, drive a car and buy gas, stop at the liquor store, I can afford to donate.

A big thank you to the nurse (customer) at Sobeys on Monday afternoon that helped my daughter who fainted. My daughter was unable to get your name as she was still slightly disoriented when she woke up. I'm so grateful someone was there to assist and comfort her! Also thanks to the caring staff (co-workers) that helped!
