I sometimes wonder if we live in a intelligent society or not, there are sensors put up to warn the driver that the truck is too tall, but if you want someone to stop you should not be warning with a yellow caution but stop the flow of traffic with a red stop light. A flashing red light or a solid red light is something that very very few drivers ignore, and with the use of timers within the system you could have a system that works like this. Over height truck breaks beam which turns on flashing red lights, and maybe the sign that shows the truck stuck under the overpass, and after a given amount of time the system resets, Edited by don brown, 2016-11-24 06:53:57" |

in some states they are red, why they are not here IDK it would maybe be an improvement
I also wonder why so many use that route at all, beside grain guys that likley know the area and the bridge OTR truckers dont have many deliveries on that side of town (that I can think of anyway) so its not even making a long detour to go to the right way into brandon anyway
I do get that the gravel terminal road isnt the best but that is the choice if the guy doesnt want to go north out of town first
the other thing i will add is that while the bridge has been hit many times it has primarily been with vans/reefer type trailers , those types of boxes are not all that structural or heavy so they take the majority of the damage allowing the bridge to still pass the inspection, now if hit with a piece of equipment or something more solid the bridge may take a bit more of the damage
