What happens with the animals on the livestock trucks when the highways are shut down as long as they were. Do they take them somewhere to let them out? Or do they stay on there?

Not sure of the time but after a certain amount of time by law they have to be let out feed and watered.

If you do come across where there is a weather related road closure there are quite a few auction marts along the way if it's a prolonged time they will let you unload for feed and water until the hiway opens.

This most recent storm there was pigs being hauled and they were stopped in the storm, since pigs will carry viruses into the slaughter plant and potentially back to the farm they were grown at they must stay on the truck.. let's just say for 24 hours those pigs start getting mighty hungry and thirsty and cold.. hate to say it to but pigs will eat themselves so for all you animal lovers I hate to break it to you..

There was three loaded pig trucks in virden when the highway was shut down. After I think 30 hours the three trucks were given a plow / police escort to Brandon.

Most auction marts don't have facilities for hogs. Hogs can also freeze to death in the trailers if they aren't closed in to keep some heat in.
