our back lane has been plowed.

Brenda I'm not sure what street you live on but yeah, no back lanes in the immediate area of my house have been touched as of this comment. My fingers are crossed they will be done tonight. I know the lane behind my house is an absolute mess and the bins get put out on the farthest side from the house.

I'd like to know if the city will be sending bobcats to clear the city sidewalks that they knowingly heap road snow on to.  
We cleared our sidewalk after the stirm (as we are supposed to) and woke up with a 4ft heap of hard packed snow across it, and down the rest of the block!! The heap they left on our lawn is understandable but my bad back says there is no way I can attack the seperate sidewalk mountain!!

I have seen alot of sidewalks being cleared as things go. The street up the way from my place hasn't been touched, while the sidewalks have a nice trail plowed through them.  
 
Just keep in mind, don't hurt yourself. You likely don't need to shovel off your sidewalk hobbes. But on behalf of everyone. Thank you.

For those who do clear their own sidewalks......... this soon to be mama thanks you! SOOOO hard to get exercise when our neighbours won't clear their snow and ice!

To be honest, I haven't shovelled my main sidewalk in the last two years for that exact reason. I was the only one on my street that would shovel from the parking lane in towards my house clearing the sidewalk in the process and throw the snow on my lawn. I shovelled that way for 3-4 vehicles to park in front of my house and neighbours and you could always clearly tell my area was well shovelled. Sadly the operators would never lift their blade and would just go by and leave the huge windrows of hard packed snow and ice. I get it they have a job to do but if someone makes the effort, the loaders behind the plows should make the effort too. Whoever plowed my street last night, piled a bunch of snow and what not infront of someone's garage and left one of the back lanes completely inaccessible in the process, they didn't even bother trying to clear any away with the loader after.

They were busy all night last night. Literally. I know the guys driving those machines put in long hours, and there are several tonnes of snow for them to move. The roads are in decent condition.  
 
It'd be really nice to see more attention being given to the pedestrians in the city. Some of the sidewalks get cleared. Some of them don't Then there are the walkways that are commonly used by pedestrians, which are most often left to be packed and whatnot by the foot traffic.  
 
I wouldn't want to see pregnant mothers having to use some of those paths.

It has always been neighbors with snow blowers, who are kind enough to clear them, but some do and some don't. We just had our street done today, and they cleared the all the driveways. I would hope they would consider the sidewalks/walking paths, maybe after the snow we are expecting tomorrow, it may become more of a priority as people will be forced to walk on the streets.

The city only clears the sidewalks along major streets and streets where there are schools. In all my years of living in Brandon I have never seen the city clear sidewalks on residential streets. Its up to the home owner to clear those sidewalks, even if there''s snow piled on them from the city loaders. The sidewalk in front of my house had snow piled on it from the city crews when they cleared the street today and I went out right after and cleared the sidewalk. The snow was soft and it only took a few minutes to clear it. Maybe if the sidewalk has a mountain of snow on it and you contact the city public works, they will send someone out to clear it when they have the time.

Well this post wasn't intended to veer off to being about sidewalks. I know I live on a busy stretch so the city does do one side of our street. Just depends what side and when but again, this post went a different direction than my original post.  
 
All that aside though, our back lane was done last night sometime between 1am and 6am, unfortunately, they left a ridge across my driveway that I am not capable of shovelling... I have a friend coming later to help me clear it as it was already pretty hard and packed by 6am this morning. So I got my answer about my back lane lol!

We live in the east end and they cleaned out street Wednesday night  
No notice was given so there were parked cars on the street unfortunately but grateful it is done.

Winnipeg does it, why doesn't Brandon. Its the days after a snowstorm... If you have to move for snow clearing anyway, just park elsewhere till its done. If the crews are ahead of schedule, maybe your street gets done sooner, why chance it? I have seen a few vehicles plowed in, good luck, that snow is heavy.

I would consider calling about your lane - my garbage day was today and they plowed my lane Tuesday.  
 
On the city of Brandon zone list, do they work their way to the bottom and do zone A last? I think the crews are doing alright but the city could do a better job with the info

I know our cul de sac is low priority but garbage day tomorrow should be interesting..

Yes, SUV and truck's could have easily moved off the street, but then where were they going to park them if they have no back lane or garage?  
 
Many of the small cars weren't going anywhere.

I'm sorry but the people who don't move their vehicles have no excuse. Ask for help to shovel. No, instead their vehicles are left along with a ton of snow. Too bad they don't tow here like Winnipeg

I called public works. The Lady there was very helpful in figuring out the schedule. Conveniently, our street was clear 2 hours later.

The sidewalk on the north side of Kirkcaldy has not been cleared, especially high at the school fence line and westward. People are walking on the street. That is not safe, this is a major thoroughfare with high traffic volume. I realize it takes time and streets are priority, but when you see a family walking on the road cause the kids can't manage the high snow, it becomes a safety issue.

It would be great if these snow storms bugger off so we can actually catch up.

The city of Brandon uses a 4 day cycle starting on TUESDAY.  
Lanes/streets should be done tomorrow or after midnight tomorrow.

Sadly too many have veered off course on this thread and a lot of things said should probably be started in a separate thread.  
 
As for my original post at the very top, and another one of my posts further down in the conversation, I actually got my answer. I also have a Thursday pick-up day so I'm not concerned about there being no pick-up tomorrow.

can anyone tell me where we can take our snow and dump it out?
