I love cross country skiing but haven't been out for few seasons due to being pregnant/having a newborn. I'm wondering if anyone has any favorite places to go in and around the city? Are there any groups that go out skiing together? I'm not an avid skier by any means, in fact my balance for it is probably terrible at the moment but I'd love to get back into it!

The Brandon Tourism website has an overview of (some of?) the trails in Brandon. They mention Brandon Hills, Canada Games Park, and the Wheat City Golf Course. I went for my first ski ever today at the Brandon Hills, which was beautiful but not yet groomed after all the snow. I found it really challenging as a novice because there are lots of hills (of varying steepness), but there were a few other skiers out who looked like they were doing fine!  
 
I would also be interested in forming a group if there were any other beginners out there! I would also love recommendations for trails that go over flatter terrain, at least until I figure out the basics.

I haven't x-country skied for awhile either due to children and am shamefully out of shape. I enjoyed the loop at the rec centre. I'd be game for a leisurely (and slow) start with a group on a flatter surface.

Slow, leisurely,flat surface... this all sounds just like what I need. and shamefully out of shape is pretty accurate too! My endurance is likely pretty sad after baby but there's only one way to get it back. If you two send me a PM we can work a date/time out and go together!

Looking for a similar environment for a kicksled. Let me know if you guys find anywhere suitable.

Do you need to bring your own skis? Or you can rent there?

I have my own skis but nobody to really go with. So the skis collect dust.

Where at Crows do the trails start? Is there a sign or marker? I don't want to accidentally end up on private property!  
 
What kind of wax and where do you buy it to wax your cross country skiis?

Do they have ski rentals? What is the phone number there?
