Am I the only person to have noticed the frigid temperature in the Keystone rink everytime it is used for the Dakota Nation Winterfest? I have attended for the past 3 years and the main rink is always freezing to the point where one needs to keep on their coat and mitts to stay warm. I have been to Wheat Kings games, as well as other major events that utilizes the facilities and the indoor temperature is always fairly comfortable with the exception of this event in particular. I''m just asking if this is just me or if others recognize this issue as well?

That's probably because when you attended major events there were more spectators. More people make it warmer in the stands.

I knew there would be a reply like that. I have taken attendance into consideration but I have seen the main rink full of spectators and the cold temp remains the same.

You should call the Keystone office and complain. I would!

I've been in the rink all my life and little colder when it's pretty empty. It's a hockey rink not a sauna

When the ice is in the average temp is around 15c in the main arena. For Wheat King games it will get a little warmer due to the number of people in the arena.  
Heating a space with a huge ice cube in the middle of it takes quite a bit of energy which means quite a bit of money also. Warmer air temp also forces the cooling system for the ice to work harder also.  
The Keystone isn't rolling in dough unfortunately so unless we want to have to pay for parking or pay higher rates to use the facility we should consider having to keep our jackets and mitts on as a minor inconvenience.

Maybe they keystone should start charging a small fee for parking then they wouldn't have to rely on the city for bailouts. Events you go to in big cities you have to pay for parking

a sore area for the Keystone and has been thought of as a revenue stream. Charging for parking, it will cause the world to end!! 'I will never pay for parking, I will park in the Mall parking lot' is the typical cry. Think of all of the poor people who wouldn't be able to take their kids to hockey practice.  
 
Then again the Keystone Centre is multiuse and has a variety of events that happen at the same time. So charging parking might not work like at say an NHL arena for a single game.  
 
The Keystone Centre can have a Wheat King game, trailer show, horse show, curling, youth/rec hockey, plus other activities going at the same time. So charging a parking fee won't be feasible. Other than adding it into event ticket pricing and would only affect those paying to attend events.
