Thank you for posting facts rather than "alternative facts" that it seems the odd person wants to grasp at. It's a disappointing reflection on the current political environment when there are some that prefer to contribute noise in the form of partisan attacks, semantic fights, straw men and conspiracy theories at a time when the country and world needs less divisiveness not more. To be honest as soon as I see a post or link here or anywhere whose primary means of refuting a news story from a reputable outlet is media bias conspiracy theories, media funding beefs, etc (in stead of calmly and rationally debating fact for fact) that's my cue as a reader to move onto the next post.  
 
I do know that when news first came out about what had happened, I was taking a lot of the initially reported facts with a grain of salt. It was only a month ago in Fort Lauderdale that initial reports placed the shooter in that awful tragedy as an Air Canada passenger, which turned out to be false. And who can forget Hurricane Sandy and initial reports that the New York Stock Exchange was flooded (also false). Highly doubt these factual inaccuracies came about because someone calculatingly wanted to manipulate the world ..... its just the way things are in the internet age with the insatiable appetite for answers and information, how quickly information flows before its vetted and how competitive things have become in being the first to break news. Its more important than ever for consumers of news to be patient for properly vetted facts to come out and to understand that one early witness report is generally only one possible piece of a puzzle and isn't the same as Police releasing factual details in the following hours and days after proper investigation.  
 
The horrible story here is that there has been a sickening crime that was targeted at a specific innocent group seemingly for the religion they practice. Given the current political climate you could make a case that it's more important than ever to our identity as a diverse and tolerant country for it to above all else be crystal clear that everyday Canadians from all walks grieve together after such a senseless tragedy. Based on everything I've seen in my 36+ years it's simply the Canadian way for there to be support, empathy and a focus on beginning to try to understand (based on fact) how we can prevent similar tragedies in the future.

A story on a funeral for three of the victims held today in Quebec, where the attack was described by the Prime Minister as a reminder of the harm that hateful words can cause.

"Over the past week we have been reminded multiple times of the warmth, of the strength, of the unity of Canadians," ..... "And we’ve seen the silent majority of people who are good and welcoming and open to one another is choosing to be less and less silent."
