We have a plane to catch so we are getting desperate!

Highly doubt your making that plane, doesn't seem that the highway will be open anytime soon.

Highways 10 and 2 are listed as closed. Hope you have cancellation insurance?

Highway is closed, and if you even attempt to try it (which is crazy of you) your insurance is void and no emergency service will come to get you until they re open. Stay home, and hopefully you have cancellation insurance.

Is not void if you travel on a closed highway. You can be charged for knowingly attempting to travel on a close highway.

Not recommending travel but the myth of having no insurance on closed roads needs to die.

Weren't flights cancelled due to weather?

It's what I was always told. Not that I'd ever be insane enough to go on a closed highway.  
 
Still, if you can be ticketed, and I know for a fact (family in towing business) that nobody will rescue you if you end up stuck or in an accident.

If you are trying to get to the Brandon Airport to catch a WestJet flight, they were cancelled today due to weather.

Too bad they couldn't get from Brandon to Carberry turn off opened up. Then traffic could at least get to Winnipeg. Other provinces I lived in plows are always out. Manitoba is close the roads and wait till the storm is over then plow and salt the roads.

you will still have insurance. But it is not a given the emergency personnel will come and find you or look for you, if it is not safe.

It was very nice traveling on 2. I saw. I drifts. But 10 and 340 was yucky

I saw no drifts on 2 I meant. Snow covered but it's was good

if you DO NOT need to be out there DON'T......  
 
The ice is ridiculous. North/South streets are polished up and the strong winds are pushing my work van sideways.  
 
The only reason I am out and about things need to get fixed and the public gets pretty cranky when there TV, I-Net and phones are down.  
 
I have taken 2 tumbles already today. No intentions of strapping on my hooks or setting up a ladder.

Although I see they have now closed all the way to Portage, it's not just the plowing. I live on Highway 1 east of Brandon and most of the day I have barely been able to see my entranceway so I am not surprised that the highways are closed. Visibility has been practically zero all day.

I too am stranded. I called numerous gas stations along my route to see if there was any traffic flowing to get an idea of what true road conditions are like. Each place told me visability is zero at times. a few gas stations also told me insurance is void. I spoke to mpi a long time ago. they still insure stupid people. I booked hotel for night. will try again tomorrow. stupid is as stupid does... forest gump
