For owners of newer homes.

Wanting to make you aware that according to City of Brandon sewer & water department representative, if you have PVC sewer piping from your property line to the sewer main line & anything should block or otherwise create a problem in that part of the line, the City will not be responsible for any part of the cost to remedy the situation. This would i:nclude e.g. tree roots. Most people believe & are told that tree roots can not infiltrate PVC sewer lines. This is not true, although it may take longer for this to happen than with old "cast" lines.
This is not in keeping with the City's by-law re: their responsibilities.
I wonder how many homeowners are aware of this?
Perhaps the City Manager or Mayor can clarify this???????
